Description
Students for the Prevention of Violence at UCSF is proud to host this year's conference, which will focus on will focus on the interconnectedness and impact of multiple forms of violence on individual persons and communities. Considering the recent Supreme Court Justice vote and the divisive political environment we live in, we hope that the program will provide a space to promote healing and resiliency.
This program is designed for students in the health professional schools and the graduate division at UCSF. However, everyone interested in the UCSF community is welcome! Other graduate school students in the Bay area interested in the intersection of violence and health are also welcome to join. Attendees will be given the opportunity to interact with specialists from a range of disciplines through small breakout sessions, provider trainings, and panel discussions featuring community professionals and survivors.
We are honored by our keynote speaker Rhodessa Jones--Founder and Director of the award-winning Medea Project: Theater for Incarcerated Women/HIV Circle, which is a performance workshop designed to achieve personal and social transformation with incarcerated women and women living with HIV. Topics to be addressed by our line-up of speakers include intimate partner violence, structural violence, race-based violence, sexual violence, community violence, violence in LGBTQI communities, violence in homeless communities, violence against disabled persons, child abuse, and trauma-informed care.
